Dans le cadre des 120 ans de présence diplomatique française en Ethiopie, le Centre français des études éthiopiennes organise une rencontre (en anglais) sur l’histoire des relations scientifiques franco-éthiopiennes dans les domaines de l’évolution humaine, la société et la culture en Ethiopie.

In order to celebrate the 120 years of French diplomatic presence in Ethiopia,  the French Center for Ethiopian Studies proposes a roundtable (in English) on the longstanding history of Ethio-French Research on Human Evolution, Society and Culture in Ethiopia.

Le Centre français des Études éthiopiennes (CFEE) d’Addis-Abeba (Éthiopie), Institut français de recherche à l’étranger (IFRE) du Ministère des Affaires étrangères et du Développement international (MAEDI) et du Centre national de la Recherche scientifique (CNRS / INSHS), propose aux étudiants et doctorants travaillant sur l’Éthiopie et la Corne de l’Afrique des financements partiels permettant la réalisation de missions de terrains et/ou l’étude de collections dans les musées.

The French Centre for Ethiopian Studies (CFEE) in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), French Research institute Abroad (IFRE) of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development (MAEDI) and of the National Centre for Scientific Researches (CNRS / INSHS) offers partial funds for field works and/or study of collections in the museums to students and PhD candidate doing their researches on Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa.

Call for panels: ICES 20, Mekelle University, 2018

CALL FOR PANELS

The 20th International Conference of Ethiopian Studies will be organised by Mekelle University, in close communication with the International Organising Committee (IOC), the Institute of Ethiopian Studies (IES) and other stakeholders, academic institutions and partners worldwide, following the long established tradition.

ICES20 welcomes specialised academic panels to be organised by small groups of researchers active in Ethiopian Studies worldwide. Panels should be oriented towards the leading theme of the conference « Regional and Global Ethiopia – Interconnections and Identities ».

The Editors of Journal of Eastern African Studies present a selection of articles commemorating the 10th anniversary of the journal.

The articles chosen for this anniversary collection represent  the breadth of research published in the journal’s first decade, from political economy and conflict to trade networks and urban studies. They are on free access during  the time of this anniversary.
