Announcement of the 2026 CFEE Fieldwork Grant Recipients

The French Center for Ethiopian Studies is pleased to announce the results of the 2026 CFEE Fieldwork Grants Call.

Aimed at PhD candidates and MA students, these grants support fieldwork and the study of collections conducted in Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa. They contribute to the CFEE’s scientific mission and priority research areas, including paleontology, archaeology, history, social sciences, political dynamics, urban studies, heritage, and regional connections across the Horn of Africa.

This year, the CFEE received 138 applications from Ethiopian, French, and international students. After a first review of the applications and a careful evaluation process, the selected projects were assessed according to their scientific quality, feasibility, academic contribution, and relevance to the CFEE’s research themes.

The CFEE warmly thanks all applicants for their interest and for the quality of the proposals received. We also extend our sincere thanks to the researchers and experts who took part in the evaluation process and contributed their time and expertise to the scientific review of the applications.

Many applications were of high quality, and the final selection was not easy. We encourage applicants who were not selected this year to apply again next year, taking into account the feedback they will receive in order to strengthen their proposals.

The grantees will have the opportunity to present part of their research through the CFEE’s scientific activities and publications. More information on their fieldwork and research projects will be shared soon.
