African Contributions to Peace Operations: Insights from the Military

A collection of five articles are to be published by the Journal of Eastern African Studies. They have already been made available online on the journal website .

This collection of articles proceeds from the workshop organized by CFEE in Addis Ababa in April 2016 (https://cfee.hypotheses.org/1554), with the support of the Observatory of the Horn of Africa (LAM, Sciences Po Bordeaux, Région Nouvelle Aquitaine), the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the French Ministry of Defence.

The collection has been directed by Nina Wilén (FNRS, ULB), David Ambrosetti (CNRS, CFEE) and Jean-Nicolas Bach (CEDEJ Khartoum).

The five articles are:

Josefine Kuhnel Larsen & Nina Wilén, “Rwanda’s military as a people’s army: heroes at home and abroad”

Thomas Mandrup, “An uncertain future: South Africa’s national defence force caught between foreign-policy ambitions and domestic development”

Nina Wilén, Gérard Birantamije, David Ambrosetti, “The Burundian army’s trajectory to professionalisation and depoliticisation, and back again”

Paul Williams, “Joining AMISOM: Why six African states contributed troops to the African Union Mission in Somalia”

 


David Ambrosetti

David Ambrosetti est politiste, chargé de recherche au CNRS. Il a été directeur du CFEE de 2014 à 2018. Depuis 2018 il est membre du laboratoire Les Afriques dans le monde (CNRS / Sciences po Bordeaux).
