What do we capture from Africa?
Table ronde – 19 Octobre 2021 (5 to 7 PM) – Alliance Ethio-française
Confronting the points of view of European and Ethiopian photographers.
Opening of the photographic exhibition African Workplaces.
The exhibition entitled “African Workplaces”, co-directed by Constance Perrin-Joly and Chloé Josse-Durand, is part of a broader scientific reflection (https://addisvisual.sciencesconf.org/ and https://www.sources-journal.org/522) that offers to answer several questions:
What do we see and know about work in Africa? What images attract the look of photographers or researchers? What images do we want to transmit and to which public? In short, in a few photographs, what can we say about work on the continent?
The round table entitled “What do we capture from Africa?” will be moderated by Emeline Wuilbercq from the Reuters Foundation and will feature French, Burundian, Kenyan, and Comorian researchers as well as photographers (Ania Gruca, Eduardo Soteras Jalil, Martha Tadesse and Geredew Tigabu…) who have been invited to share their views on their professional practice of photographing Africa and work.
