The French Center for Ethiopian Studies: Crossed Stories

Long the celebration of the French week, 15-20th May, the CFEE team proposes the screening of a special documentary to better understand the activities of this scientific research institute.

The French Centre for Ethiopian Studies is a Mixed Unit – French Research Institute abroad of the CNRS and the MEAE based in Addis Ababa.
On the occasion of its 30th anniversary in 2022, the documentary The French Centre for Ethiopian Studies: Crossed Histories looks back on a history rich in scientific collaboration between Ethiopia and France, from palaeontology to archaeology and medieval history, to the social sciences of contemporary socio-political issues.
From minus 3.6 million years to the present day, in the field and in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian and French researchers or students meet and talk about each other, thus drawing a portrait of a unique institution in Ethiopia.
