The annual conference of « Rencontres Sabéennes », focusing on the pre-Islamic history of the South-Arabian Peninsula, was held this year in Vienna from the 13rd to the 15th of June. Ethiopia and southern Arabia share a common history, as evidenced by trade and cultural exchanges over the centuries. The conference was untitled « Out of Africa », and the presentations included a fair amount of papers considering the archaeology of the Horn of Africa. Indeed, seven papers and two posters were directly related to ancient Ethiopia, while three others were more or less linked to the Horn of Africa. This post briefly summarizes the content of these communications, highlighting the scientific dynamism that the research community on South-Arabia brings to this search field.
